Gotta Catch 'Em All!!! (Class week 2, part 2)

These two images are the exact same photo from opposite sides. Looking at them now I see that I should have rotated the table 90 degrees to have the sun hit both figures from the same side.  As it is the sun is hitting one from the front and one from the back. I also think i could have moved them closer together and used a wider aperture to blur the background and the figure in the foreground more.

Gotta Catch 'Em All!!! (Class week 2, part 1)

My grandmother recently taught me how to crochet. This awesome new talent combined with free Pokemon crochet patterns online produced these little guys.

This weeks assignment was to take six pictures of the same subject from different perspectives. I tried to play around with different positions and moving the figures into and out of the direct sunlight. The top three I took as a sort of battle sequence between Charmander and Squirtle.

I haven't processed these images at all except to crop them down a little.

Rock or tree? Why not both?

This picture is from the same trip as the mountain flowers below. About two hours after becoming lost I sat down, looked to my right, and was incredibly surprised. I always knew trees could grow surrounded by solid rock, but never straight out a boulder.

This stubborn little tree was growing out of a very large, moss covered rock. This is one of the few times I wish the 40mm pancake was a bit faster. I was hoping to blur the rock in the foreground a little more than it is, but I like the way it came out regardless.

Mountain Flowers

A couple weekends ago I decided to take a walk up behind my girlfriend's house. Not knowing the layout of the mountain I quickly became lost. Good thing I had my camera :) I found quite a few patches of these little guys growing near streams. All of my attempts to identify their species have failed, so if anyone knows what they are I would love to know.

Birds

I like taking pictures of birds. The fact that hundreds of them visit the house every day makes them easy and, sometimes, interesting targets. This photo was taken mid-March 2013. I've never seen a bird perch on an icicle before and was lucky enough to capture this before all signs of Winter melted away.
